Purpose of the job
The Fire and Rescue Officer reports to the Business Security & Rescue Manager. The Fire and Rescue Officer is required to respond to a wide variety of calls: as well as fires, assist with safe making of equipment for vessel entry, and hazardous chemical spills. The incumbent must conduct inspections of fire equipment on site, complete all relevant documentation for auditing and for future reference.
The Fire and Rescue Officer provides first aid assistance to the injured wherein their goal is to stabilize the person before transferring them to the NCP medical centre or nearby hospital for further medical care. The incumbent is required to quickly decide on the best method to stabilize the person and provide immediately medical relief during emergencies.
The abovementioned activities shall be conducted in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, No. 85 of 1993 and all relevant NCP policies and procedures.

2.
Compliance to fire codes requirements

Inspect fire detection equipment, alarm and all system and keep them in working order.

Responsible for ensuring quick and efficient medical response at all times

Perform regular fire safety inspections of all facilities, ensuring that they meet all necessary codes and regulations.

Maintain all fire safety equipment on site, such as fire extinguishers and other fire-suppression equipment.

Report and escalate any non-compliances to NCP policies, procedures and systems relating to operations that could adversely affect NCP to relevant line manager

Fire and Gas Emission Response

Respond to fire emergencies and gas emissions and taking appropriate responsive actions.

Ensure proper functioning of fire hydrants and maintain availability of emergency water supplies.

Be familiar and adhere to laws and policies and remain up to date on all municipal and national codes and regulations.

Comply with basic scene safety checks and the associated basic risk assessments, working with other Fire and Rescue Officer.
4.
Emergency Response

Respond to emergency, perform patient stabilization before transporting patient to on-site medical center or hospital. It is required that the Fire Officer be on site in 15 minutes.

Ensure that an adequate degree of monitoring and treatment is maintained and prolonged until the patient is transferred to a medical center or hospital, while remaining within the scope of this role’s training and competency.

Observe patient vital signs using skills and equipment relevant to scope of practice as directed and reporting any changes to the other emergency services staff.

Comply with basic scene safety checks and the associated basic risk assessments, working with other Fire and Rescue Officer.

Properly kit out and clean the ambulance (paying attention to infection prevention and control) after every call.

Contact the emergency control center to request extra support when needed.

Supporting the delivery of first aid and minor emergency treatments.

Perform resuscitation efforts on employees during an emergency.

Safely transport injured employees while providing on-going treatment and monitoring enroute to hospital.

Record patient information and treatment administered before handing over patient at hospital.

Maintain confidentiality in relation to personal data held for the injured employee, ensure data is processed lawfully; for no purpose other than for which it was obtained; is relevant to that purpose; is retained for no longer than is necessary; is processed in accordance with the rights of the subject to access and accuracy; and is protected from accidental loss or damage in accordance with the requirements of the POPI Act.

Logistics Supervisor

To actively supervise and coordinate the various shift activities of Site logistics Operations on site so as to achieve the plans for loading and off-loading (bulk) and filling (break bulk) (Packed) and filling (Packed &drums and Cylinders) of quality approved product and conforming and always adhering to SHERQ as well as cost control requirements. Trains new subordinates as well as new colleagues on the required job scope during the shift.

Laboratory Supervisor

Purpose of the job
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the management and administration of the Analytical Chemistry and Quality Control Laboratory functions, to

Oversee the daily operations of the laboratories (Quality Control, Analytical, & Cato Ridge plant labs), by providing scientific information, products & services by conducting lab tests, developing methods, and maintaining equipment & supplies

Ensure that all lab equipment including plant lab is calibrated as well as record keeping of the status of the equipment.

Ensure that the plant labs are aligned with the main lab regarding SOP’s and reporting units and specifications.

Form an integral part in training of the plant lab personnel as well as signing off on the training matrix.

Ensure the analysis of routine samples (raw materials and final products), compatibility materials and reactive chemicals. Ensure lab scale testing of alternative raw materials.

Ensure the analysis non-routine samples (contaminants, process anomalies and sediments);

Ensure plant process chemistry and production process problem solving and optimization on the Chlor-Alkali plant and in the broader group.

Ensure technical support for sales and marketing on all product ranges (product development & evaluation for tenders).

Ensure that laboratory SOP & Analytical Methods, lab records & documentations are updated, reviewed, and maintained.

Ensure the monitoring, maintenance, reporting, overseeing and continuous improvement of Analytical process and Quality Assurance.

Ensure implementation of most effective technologies (MET) within the organization.

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO, Responsible Care, Process Safety Management, and good lab practice (GLP) within the laboratories. Suitable training programs for personnel development are required so that long term strategic goals can be met.

Process Controller

Purpose of the job
The Process Controller reports to the Production shift Supervisor and is responsible for continuous cost-effective operation of the plants (Salt handling, Chemical make-up, Primary brine, Secondary brine, Brine purification, Nano filtration, brine control room/ DCS) which transforms raw materials to a final product with the purpose of maintaining all laid-down parameters and efficiencies in accordance with manufacturing process.
Brine process controller is responsible to ensure adherence to routine process activities (sampling, data recording, housekeeping, plant inspections including plant start up and shutdown) and reports any deviations to senior control room operator or shift supervisor.

Experience

5 years’ experience in Engineering Fabrication in a Chemical industry/environment.

5 years’ experience in a Fabrication supervision and coordination role

Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Knowledge and experience of welding and fabrication industry standards in relation to the manufacture of process piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks and structures.

Qualifications:

Matric /N3

National Diploma – Mechanical Engineering/Metallurgy (Advantageous).

Red Seal Trade Tested – Boilermaker/Welder

IIW Welding Specialist

Reporting structure:

This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Personal Circumstances:

Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies’ medical centre.

May be required to be on Standby.
