Purpose of the job
To develop and support a learner within the Chemical Engineering function by integrating academic knowledge with practical, hands-on experience in a real-world environment. This program aims to cultivate a capable chemical engineering professional who can contribute to process optimization, safety, and operational efficiency, while preparing the learner for future roles in the chemical industry.
Key performance area
- Attend theoretical and practical learning components within the Chemical Engineering function (Attend HAZOP & MOC training).
- Complete logbooks and summative assessments.
- Carry out all industry-related workplace experience activities at NCP Chlorchem.
- Complete Plant assessments at own areas.
- Compile & submit technical reports.
Knowledge / skills/ Competencies
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail.
- Planning and organising skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Experience
- No experience is required.
Qualifications:
- Matric with Mathematics & Sciences.
- Completed S4 subjects in Chemical Engineering with 60% average and 65% on major subjects.
- Statement of results.
- Letter from University for workplace experience.
Personal Circumstances:
- Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies’ medical centre.
