Purpose of the job
To manage the daily operations and maintenance at the Cato Ridge plants so as to meet production
of customer volumes and quality requirements in a safe and efficient manner that ensures the
company’s sustainable profitability and competitiveness in the region.
Key performance area
- To manage the Cl2 warehouse operations are run efficiently and ensuring continuous
 stock availability and turnaround with customers and Chloorkop.
- To ensure that the packed chlorine drums and cylinders are stacked properly and safely.
- To ensure that full/empty stock transfer vehicles are loaded/unloaded on the day of
 arrival or departure. Transported cylinders/drums empty and full must be properly
 securely so that they don’t fall while in transit.

- To ensure that standby is recorded on a timesheet and managed within the Department’s
 annual budget in the Cl2 warehouse on a weekly basis.
- To ensure that good housekeeping and time keeping is maintained with weekly audits for
 compliance.
- To ensure that chlorine monitors inside the warehouse are in good working condition and
 that are calibrated as per schedule.
- To ensure chlorine monitors trigger the automatic closing of roller doors when they detect
 chlorine leak.
- To manage the Depot Emergency System with relevant problem solving to ensure the
 continuous and safe operation of the Atlantis Depot.
- To ensure that Plant downtime is minimized by making sure that Preventative
 Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance schedule for all Critical Equipment is adhered to
- To ensure that Scrubber system is in good working order all the time
- To ensure that Generator system is in good working order all the time
- To test Emergency alarm every Thursday of the week.
- To conduct Emergency Drill at least twice a year.
- To attend to plant standby for off-site Hazchem callouts, customer and community
 Complaints, plant breakdowns and plant system fault finding when required.
- To manage the plant maintenance program at Atlantis Depot to ensure minimum
 disruption to production activities.
- To manages and processes all the plant scheduled and statutory maintenance programs
 as per legal requirements.
- To ensure that emergency maintenance down time is kept to a maximum of 1 x day off
 line by ensuring that spares is always available.
- To ensure that annual shut down and maintenance plans are formulated and kept up to
 date at all times.
- To manage a small team of offsite based contractors and ensure efficient usage of their
 time.
- To ensure maximum equipment availability in accordance with best practices and
 meeting all the legal requirements of the OSHACT.
- To ensure that the specified NCP safety standards are always maintained.
- To ensure that specified safety and maintenance procedures are always followed
- To ensure that Contractors SHE files are reviewed timeously and must comply with NCP
 Directives

- To ensure that Risk Assessment are up to date and updated when need to.
- To ensure that audits on warehouse operating procedures are done according to the
 specified checklist at least once per month.

- To control plant maintenance expenses within the annual fixed cost budget.
- To ensure that costs are reduces by using only registered/approved vendors on the NCP
 database and consulting with alternative suppliers to gain better value when required.

 Experience
- Minimum 2 years Spares and chemical handling Experience.
- Minimum 5 years Chemical industrial environment.
Qualifications:
- N6 Millwright / BTech Mechanical Engineering
 Reporting structure:
- This position reports to the Maintenance Coordinator.
 Personal Circumstances:
- Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies’ medical centre.
- May be required to be on standby.
