Purpose of the job
The Process Controller reports to the Production supervisor and is responsible for the relief operation
of the production plants in the Northern section, crane/telehandler operation, product purification and

effluent treatment in a safe and optimal manner. The position is responsible for the continuous cost-
effective operation of the plant, which transforms raw materials to a final product, with the purpose of

maintaining all laid-down parameters and efficiencies in accordance with the manufacturing process.
The abovementioned activities shall be conducted in compliance with the Occupational Health and
Safety Act, No. 85 of 1993 and all relevant NCP Policies and procedures.
This position profile acts as a guide to the role only, and additional work outcomes may be required to
be performed by the incumbent.
Key performance area

  • Operate, Monitor and control the plant production according to production plans using the
    applicable SOP’s;
  • Management and treatment of Effluent
  • Crane operation
  • Product purification
  • Administration and EH&S
  • Resolve plant/process challenges on shift
  • Manage plant downtimes and delays
  • Conduct root cause analysis
  • Prevent SHERQ incidences
  • General Housekeeping pertaining to the operation of the plant

  • Computer literacy

  • Knowledge and understanding of unit processes and consequences of non-compliance.
  • Understanding of MSDS
  • Able to control the plant using the DCS, PS7 process control system
  • Able to work shifts

Experience

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position in a Chemical/Manufacturing environment.
    Qualifications:
  • Matric
  • NQF Level 2/3/4 Chemical Operations certificate
  • National Diploma in Chemical Engineering (Advantageous)
  • Valid Overhead Crane license
    Reporting structure:
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
    Personal Circumstances:
  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the company’s medical Centre.
  • Will be required to work shifts.
